The author in the presented book about the course of World War II in Europe on the so-called "Eastern Front" provides an overview of the conduct of strategic military engagements in which the victory of the Soviet Army was decided on this battlefield. It deals with the period from the Battle of Kursk to the end of Operation Bagration. The book describes the mentioned period especially from a military point of view, provides an overview of the most important military operations and also presents brief biographies of the main actors of the battles. However, it is not only devoted to purely military operations, but also to a small extent to broader political-military issues, which are narrowed down to the described period and region. They concern the relations between Germany and its allies and, at the most general level, also the diplomatic activities of the USSR. The selected chapters also include a basic overview of the economic-military issues associated with the production of weapons with the aim of pointing out the changes in the production of both warring states - on the one hand with the depletion of German resources and on the other with the strengthening Red Army.
