Dubravka [borough in Bratislava] lies at the eastern foot of Devinska Kobyla. The original village existed in the 14th century and belonged to the castle Devin. But its history is much older. Its advantageous geographical location predestined it for settlement already in prehistoric times. Archaeological finds from the Stone Age are proof. Unique monuments from the Roman period have been preserved. Subsequently, the Celts settled here and the area was inhabited during the Great Moravian Empire. The first written mention dates from 1574. It is associated with the settlement of Croats, who fled from the Turkish danger from the Balkan Peninsula and settled in Dubravka and nearby Lamac. Dubravka was not bypassed by the Napoleonic Wars and was destroyed during the Prussian-Austrian War in 1866. The village was annexed to Bratislava in 1946.
