The author of the monograph analyzes political views and scientific work of outstanding Ukrainian scientist and political figure Mikhailo Drahomanov (1841-1895). Drahomanov occupies a distinctive place in the development of the democratic traditions in Ukrainian political thought. He propounded a plan for formation of Ukrainian political nation, which he elaborated on the basis of the principles of civil society, development of local and regional self-government and unlimited guarantee of human and civil rights.
