Retired Gustav Molitor, a former publishing editor, is told by his doctor that he is beginning to develop progressive dementia. Alzheimer's disease is at play, but Gustav, despite knowing he is "starting to go crazy," begins writing notes about the symptoms, believing that perhaps his diagnosis is different. And to exercise his brain and delay the inevitable end, he decides to write down everything he can still remember. He is then surprised to discover how much humour can be hidden in the embarrassing and sad memories.
