The Forgotten Names of the Russian Emigration are being revived before readers. This is the merit of Sergei Gennadievich Isakov (1931-2013), the compiler and author of the preface to the collection. Estonian literary critic, professor at the University of Tartu during the golden development of the semiotic school of Yu.M. Lotman, author of 500 scientific papers, more than 750 articles in encyclopedias, compiler of anthologies.
V.E. Gushchik (1892-1947) - the largest Russian prose writer in Estonia in 1920-30, author of more than a dozen books. Prominent cultural figures wrote about him: I. Shmelev, V.I. Nemirovich-Danchenko, N. Roerich, A. Kuprin. Gushchik lived as an emigrant in Estonia. In 1941, he was arrested and sentenced to death, which was replaced by 10 years in the camps. In the camp in 1947 he died. V.E. Gushczyk is a master of a wide range: he is a realist, but his stories also contain elements of fantasy with conventional imagery. They refer the reader to Kafka and Bulgakov. The publication is illustrated in the style of woodcuts, drawings - scratching.
