The book is written by a historian, member of Central Committee of the CPSU, he knew personally many of those, who governed the country after Khrushchev, attended the sessions of Politburo, Secretariat, and Plenums of the Central Committee. In the 70s he came finally to conclusion that what would be called “stagnation” after, had been indeed the final stage of a century process that led to the disappearance of “Empire”. But Stalin's system made this process irreversible. The author makes an attempt to prove, that the end of Russia as world phenomenon and as nation-state was predetermined. The articles, interviews, different statements, diaries are used in the book.
