The monograph is dedicated to the problems of Dagestan population, its allocation, reproduction and age and sex composition according to the materials of the USSR and Russian Federation population censuses. Contrastive analysis of the censuses’ results is suggested in the monograph. On the basis of sociological studies conducted by the author in cities and regions of the republic, certain family questions are explored, such as birth rate, death-rate and sex education. A considerable part of the book is dedicated to the question of population migration, its causes and consequences. The author also offers sociologic materials about socio-economic, ethnic and demographic development of the eleven peoples of Dagestan. The state and regional government bodies are suggested scientifically well-founded guidelines in the sphere of demographic policy.
