The collection contains proceedings of the International Conference 'Democratic Processes in Central Asia: Experiences and Perspectives' held in Bishkek on 2-4 December, 1997. Representatives of many governmental and non-governmental organizations, political leaders, and scientists from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, Azerbaijan, Russia, the USA and India participated in this work. A wide range of problems concerning various aspects of political pluralism and democratization, national security, conflict prevention and peaceful resolution, independent mass media and many other matters were covered during these discussions.
