The year 2021 is the 150th birth anniversary of one of the leaders of the Bulgarian national liberation movement in Macedonia, Dame Gruev (1871-1906). This biography of Gruev, written by literary critic and journalist Yordan Badev, has been published as a separate book for the first time since 1944. It is less of a conventional biography and more of a reliable historical account aimed to celebrate the life and work of one of the "apostles" of the Bulgarian national revolution in Macedonia. Badev himself was a member of the Internal Macedonian Revolutionary Organization (VMRO) and knew Gruev personally; he was Gruev's student in the High School in Bitola. This makes his account particularly authentic and absorbing.
