Daguerreotype, ambrotype, tintype... These old if not ancient photograph techniques of the XVIIIth century were not perfect. Nevertheless, they enabled the first photographers to make immortal snapshots that now are sold by the most popular and luxurious auctions of the world. These proto-photographs carry the very atmosphere of those remote times. The edition represents a masterly published art album that includes daguerreotypes, ambrotypes and tintypes stored at the National Museum of Lithuania, which have been done by the experienced photographers from Warsaw, Vilnius, St. Petersburg and other places of the former Russian Empire in the late XVIII - early XIX centuries. The collection has been constituted from different collections made in different times and by different people, that makes it just more peculiar and attractive. Only for real connoisseurs of art!
