The features of the hero's educational path are the least studied part of the history of pedagogical culture, despite the great attention of ancient authors to the biography of heroes and the extensive tradition of discussing their exploits. The ancient Greek paideia for the hero, from which the ancient Roman humanitas grew, combined in a special way the public and the private, the ideal image of a strong and courageous person and the real experiences of the one who wanted to correspond to this image. The monograph presents the results of an interdisciplinary study of the images of Hercules the student and Achilles the student, present in the narrative and visual traditions and giving an idea of the curriculum for the ancient Greek hero.
