G.G. Gamzatov (1926-2011) was a scholar, linguist, literary critic, folklorist, orientalist and member of Russian Academy of Sciences. Head of the Institute for History, Language and Literature named after Gamzat Tsadasa in 1972-1992 and the Institute for Language, Literature and Art named after Gamzat Tsadasa in 1992-2004.
