In the article are being examined the historiography of crime in the Belarusian provinces in the second half of XIX - early XX century. The treatises of Belarusian and foreign historians, published in different periods and affecting various aspects of crime in the post-reform period are being analyzed. The prevailing in different time trends in the study of history are being underlined and the degree of crime issues coverage under the new historical approaches are being explored. The author points to the increased in the last decade attention of the Belarusian scientists to aspects of the social history and deviant behavior of the population. The author concludes that, in spite of the considerable interest in the issues of social, economic and political development of Belarus in the second half of XIX- early XX century, problem of crime has not been the subject of separate studies.
