Victor Lvovich Kibalchich, better known under the pseudonym Victor Serge (1890-1947) was a Russian and French-speaking writer, revolutionary, journalist, poet, activist of the Communist Party and the Comintern, member of the Left Opposition. After arrest and exile in 1933, he left the USSR in 1936 and wrote works of art and memoirs abroad on topics related to the revolution and Stalinism. In the West, where his works are still republished and are noted as an outstanding artist; In the USSR, translations of his works appeared only during the perestroika period.
