The book continues the publication of the Eastern Committee of the Russian Geographical Society and the Institute of Oriental Manuscripts. It contains articles on various issues of history, culture and ethnography of the countries and peoples of the East. This particular collection is devoted to the memory of B. Valskaya and tells about her life, scientific work and selfless labour in the Eastern Commission of the RGS. The book contains as well a review of the scientific funds of orientalists from the archives of the Museum of Anthropology and Ethnography n.a. Peter the Great of the Russian Academy of Sciences and a bibliography of publications of the Eastern Commission of the for the years 1959-2005.
