The edition of the series “The Masterpieces of the World Museums” is devoted to the picture “Danae” by Correggio from the collection of the Borghese Gallery in Rome. The myth about Danae was one of the most popular myths among the Renaissance masters. Corregio sees this theme in its own way. His heroine is a young girl who admires herself and pays little attention to gold coins falling from the sky. The cupid is an intermediary between Jupiter and the princess.
