The author, Associate Professor Maria Stambolieva, is one of the pioneers in formal, computational and corpus linguistics in Bulgaria. She created the first electronic single-language and multi-language corpora in the country. She has taken part in major international projects for building European language technology infrastructure (TELRI, TELRI-II, GLOSSER, CLARIN) and projects of the Francophone University Association, among other international and national initiatives. Stambolieva has written several monographs and dozens of papers and articles as well as English language textbooks and learning aids.
