Nikolai Nikolaevich Urvantsev (1893-1985) is a great Russian polar traveler, geologist, surveyor, cartographer, and discoverer of the world's largest Norilsk coal basin. He explored and compiled the first detailed map of the Severnaya Zemlya archipelago, and also mapped many other geographical objects of the Arctic.
