The fifth volume of the Collection of Works of the People's Writer of Belarus Yanka Bryl (1917-2016) includes the novel "Birds and Nests" (1942-1944, 1962-1964), which is considered one of the best anti-war works in Belarusian literature of the second half of the XX century. The events of the Second World War are conveyed in the novel through the worldview of a native of Western Belarus, a former Polish soldier who was taken prisoner by the Germans.
