The book consists of two parts: the first one represents the analysis of M. M. Bakhtin's personal library as a phenomenon of culture, the second one is a catalog of publications (251) featuring the inscriptions belonging to the figures of national and world culture and science (M. V. Alpatov, N. P. Antsiferov, D. S. Likhachev, Yu. M. Lotman, M. V. Yudina and many others). Book covers and pages with inscriptions are reproduced as photographs. The volume contains brief information about the authors of the inscriptions.
