The book represents the eleventh volume of previously unpublished prose by Zinaida Gippius – an outstanding Russian poet, playwright, editor, religious thinker and one of the founders of Russian symbolism. The publication of the edition has been resumed; although it was planned to publish it in 10 volumes it has appeared in 15 volumes.
