A legend of pre-war Bohemia. A Kresowianka, in 1935 she moved to the capital at the urging of Julian Tuwim, who saw her as an outstanding poetic talent. She was friends with the Skamandrites, with Witold Gombrowicz and artists gathered around the editorial staff of the newly established satirical weekly “Szpilki”. She made her debut in the press at the age of fourteen. She died at the age of twenty-seven. This edition is the most complete collection of Zuzanna Ginczanka’s poems to date – it contains all of the poet’s known works, including those never published before: the discovered manuscript of the poem Song of Songs and poems from the press. The edition has been enriched with illustrations and commentaries, allowing for a better understanding of the background of the era and immersion in Ginczanka’s world, in the reality in which she had to live and create.
