The study was carried out as a result of the authors' examination of several thousand specimens of Jochid coins, of which about 1,500 coins were used to reconstruct the images of the dies and restore the dies' connections presented in this volume. The data obtained were compiled into a catalogue containing drawings of the dies, photographs of the coins and their metrology, as well as translations of the coin legends into Russian and English (most of the coins in the catalogue are published for the first time). The book discusses in detail the history of the study of the coins of this period; brief historical information about each issuer is provided. It is shown that it is the analysis of chronologically ordered dies' grids ("die combs"), rather than the study of individual coins, that is the most important source of information about the sequence and duration of the khans' rule in the capital region of the Golden Horde in the early 15th century.
