The monograph presents theoretical-methodological foundations of anthropo-centric approach to translating within the Cognitive Semiotics framework. The author explores cognitive basis of translating as an interpretive, evaluative and interactive mode of linguistic (discourse) activity, its processes and products being defined by the structural-content configuration of the translator's mind. The translator is construed of as an active and inherently biased agent of such activity, a whole living human being and a unique semiotic self. Cognitive mechanisms mediating translating are discussed from the perspective of the agent principle and with account of various contexts of the translator's linguistic activity.
