This book is a first-person account of Company С 2671 Special Reconnaissance Battalion of the OSS in the US Army during World War 2. A part of the battalion was known as the Greek American Operational Group or the Greek USOG. The battalion operated behind the lines in Greece and on the front lines m Yugoslavia. "The type of warfare they engaged in was unique in the history of the American Army," according to a report of the OSS, December 24,1944, cited in this book. The records were classified as top secret until circa 1987.
The author saw wartime active duty behind the lines in Axis occupied Greece and on the front-lines in Yugoslavia and then subsequently in the CBI (China Burma India) Theater, also. He holds the Bronze Star Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Presidential Unit Citation, European Campaign Ribbon with four Battle Stars, Asiatic-Pacific Campaign Ribbon with two Battle Stars, WW2 Medal, British and Chinese Parachute Wings, American Campaign Medal, and Congressional Gold Medal (OSS).
