The monograph narrates about city dwellers’ social way of life in pre-revolutionary Russia. Social class formation began in the period of Peter the Great government and caused social stratification: the merchants, the petty bourgeoisie, and craftspeople. These classes influenced greatly state authorities and were informal political and economic power.
