The monograph is devoted to a comprehensive study of civic participation, taking into account the specific forms of its manifestation in the regional space, as well as barriers to implementation and ways to overcome them. The team of authors analyzed the trends in the development of the non-profit sector, its capabilities and limitations in solving socially significant problems on the ground. The specificity of volunteer activity as a form of manifestation of civic participation of the population at the national and local levels is considered. A comparison is made of the development conditions and tendencies of civic participation in general and volunteering in particular in Russia and foreign countries. The impact of civic participation practices on the formation and development of a quality urban environment is assessed.
