The book brings together a number of unique pieces of information from the archives, although much of it was incomplete or missing altogether. It is not an exhaustive account of Dubсek's life; individual episodes capture his key party and personality positions. The description of the years 1968-1969 is more continuous, as this is the most important stage of Dubсek's career, but the book also traces his fate during normalisation and in the period when the Communists finally lost power.
