Michael Apalinarevich Buteneu was born in 1919 in Yalta, where his parents left Moscow after the revolution. He was not a year old when his family moved to Austria via Constantinople; later they moved to France, where many members of their extended family gathered. In 1934 all moved to Poland, where he remained family Shchors on the border with the Soviet Union. In Warsaw, Buteneu received matriculation. Butsenevy lived in Poland until 1939, until the war all of them are not scattered. Buteneu was in Germany, where he studied international economics, and finally in 1944 he moved to France. In Paris, he worked at the International Organization of assistance to emigrants, which carried him along with his wife and children in America, in New York. First, he worked briefly in a factory, but then got a job in a bank, where he specialized in international economics and traveled throughout Europe, Africa and the Middle East (he speaks six languages).
