After almost thirty years, one of the most successful books of the Rak Publishing House is being republished: “A period document is something like a sci-fi rocket journey into the past. You open the door (of the book) and you are, for example, in the 14th century. Isn’t that an adventure?” wrote PhDr. Pavel Dvorak, founder of the RAK Publishing House, sometime in 1995, when he first published a Slovak translation of a selection of Latin royal and German city chronicles, which tell the story of the history of Slovakia from the fall of Great Moravia to the end of the Middle Ages. For the first time, the Slovak reader could delve into a book full of the thoughts of a medieval man. The book Chronicles of Medieval Slovakia by Julius Sopek was a huge success among readers and won seven major awards: in the Most Beautiful Books of Slovakia competition, the Slovak Academy of Sciences Prize for the Popularization of Science, the Matej Bel Prize, the Golden Seal and others. Even after thirty years since its publication, there was great interest in the book, which is why RAK Publishing House decided to republish it, this time in an improved form, which makes it even more beautiful than the original edition.
