This book is about the artistic traditions of the East in the culture of Belarus in the 18th CENTURY. Chinoiserie or Chinese style is a kind of key to understanding the art in the Radziwill castles and the masterpieces created in the princely manufactories of the 18th century. Many features of form and materials, for example, in Sverzhensky faience, Nalibotsky glass, Urech mirrors and Slutsk belts, can be understood by referring to the chinoiserie style. The central place in the book is occupied by the study of an album of hand-drawn designs for furniture, weapons, and ceramics by the court artist Fischer. Fischer is a master of chinoiserie, whose work puts the art of the Radziwills on par with the royal art of France, England, Prussia, Saxony and other German principalities of the 18th century. Fischer's works confirm the high level of lacquer and stone-cutting art at the Radziwill manufactories. Chinoiserie influenced the theatrical Nesvizh, the decoration of churches, the decoration and construction of palaces and parks. For cultural historians and a wide range of readers who are interested in the art and everyday life of the 18th century.
