In this monograph the author attempts to critically analyze the state of and prospects for Russian-Chinese relations. He first tackles the issue of where China is heading and what the implications of different scenarios are for Russia. The prospects for Russo-Chinese interaction in various specific fields are explored, risks and dangers to Russia are identified and various strategic options are outlined. The book is based on discussions held at the Carnegie Moscow Center throughout 1997-1998.
