The publication is devoted to one of the most tragic and insufficiently explored problems of Russian history of the XIXth century - the postwar eviction of Chechens to Turkey. The author considers the position and tactics of the Caucasian administration towards this problem, shows main stages of Chechens' resettlement to Turkey, their stay on the territory of Ottoman Empire and subsequent return back to Chechnia.
