Chapoloch is the author's debut novel. Nothing similar to this text has so far been found in contemporary Ukrainian literature. Rhythm, style, shawl with subtle allusions to classics, a play of meanings and overtones. The novel is a challenge to the traditional canons of fiction, a poetic rebellion against genre conventions of literature. The protagonist, a lone philosopher, lives in a sealed world in which he hides from the harsh reality, overcoming the illusions of unrestrained youth in search of beauty and taste for the lives he has lost. Like a little Buddha from the School for Fools ghetto, an adult man tries to grasp what he sees and is afraid to see during a deep psychological crisis. And to restore the lost - genuine children's joy, primal sensuality, the voice of grass, knowledge of the language of trees, birds and animals, the true fullness of being. Don't you become a beast in the wild forest of people? A profoundly metaphorical parable of eternal human loneliness, vulnerability and thirst for knowing what they are losing humanity for, but gaining the power that exists above humans and their world. A world without love.
