This collection of Vaclav Havel's previously unpublished speeches and appearances is framed by his candidate article from the daily Mlada fronta of 19 January 1993 and concludes with his famous Rudolfina speech, which he delivered on 9 December 1997 at a joint session of both chambers of the Czech Parliament. In all of them the dominant feature is the truly ethical dimension that this man tried to bring to public affairs and real politics. Countless reflections, studies, celebratory tirades and slanders have been written about Vaclav Havel in this country and around the world. It is worth returning to it, because its ethical overlap is not only still valid, but in the current crises that not only Czech but also the whole of European society is going through, we will find in it the answer to the questions that so intensely plague us.
