The book reflects the political component of the settlement of Slobidska Ukraine, the functioning of the unstable border, the peculiarities of the political incorporation of the local elite into the general imperial structures. Particular attention is paid to the coverage of family life: attitudes towards women, domestic violence in the XVIII century, the study of childhood history, ways and features of adulthood in early modern society. Regarding regional specifics, the functioning of local names and self-names at the time of formation of the national vision of Ukrainian history is considered.
