Imants Prieditis (1930) experienced service in German military units, was recruited by the Americans to operate in occupied Latvia, experienced repression by the Soviet Union and deportation to Chukotka. Being one of the last living participants of the Second World War, as well as having endured imprisonment in the Soviet Gulag camp, the author makes his individual contribution to the history of Latvia from the 1930s to the present day.
