The book is the product of Dr. G. Vladimirov's long-term research on the history and culture of the Bulgarians from their settlement in the lands of the Middle Volga in the 8th century until the destruction of their cultural model in the second half of the 16th century. Based on written sources, archaeological, ethnographic and anthropological data, the publication traces the political and economic history, lifestyle, material and spiritual culture of the population of Volga Bulgaria, the Golden Horde and the Kazan Khanate. The monograph offers a solution to a number of questions, but also leaves the door open for a more in-depth discussion in academic circles and among the wider circle of lovers of well-written history.
