The book was written by Bulgarian law professor Nikola Dolapchiev 70 years ago, when he was living abroad as an emigre following his stint as Bulgarian ambassador in London. This is its first edition in Bulgaria. The study covers the period from the communist takeover in Bulgaria in 1944 until the death of Soviet leader Joseph Stalin in 1953. It explores how Bulgaria became a satellite state of the Soviet Union. Dolapchiev pays special attention to the violation of human rights and the Sovietization of the Bulgarian justice system.
