The novel by the famous Ukrainian writer "Bug" is about real events in Volyn Polissya after the Second World War. Pupils at a local school in Volyn, where the UPA was born, organized a youth organization of nationalists, for which they were severely punished by the Soviet authorities. The novel, sprinkled with poems by the favorite poet of one of the main heroines of the novel, Andriy Nayuk, is about psychology, philosophy, and the ideology of patriotism. It contains a lot of romantic love and carnal pleasures, suffering, sacrifice and betrayal, visions and phantasmagorias, insights and predictions of modern war, although it was written in 2007.
