The purpose of this work is to explore the past of the city of Brody in Austrian times from an economic and socio-historical point of view. The paper combines aspects of urban history with the present and present perception of Brody and identifies coincidences and differences in this aspect. The first two chapters of the book are based on the analysis of archival materials, published sources and scientific literature, and correspond to the classical historiographical approach. The third part is rather literary or cultural.
