Books by Iordan Velchev have won the Khristo G. Danov National Award in the Humanities (2005, 2015), the Bulgarian Writers Society Annual Award in Poetry (1999) and in the Humanities (2005), and the Plovdiv Award in Literature (2005, 2015). "Bringing the Meanings Together" is a collection of poems themed around urban life and history, and the question of what it means to be human in this part of Europe.
