The BRICS countries - Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa - want to change the global political system which is dominated by the United States. The pace of global development is determined by technological inventions and innovations. The existing financial order and the use of the US dollar as a reserve currency stand in the way of the BRICS' development. The five countries want the Chinese yuan and the Russian ruble to be on a par with the US dollar in world trade. The BRICS' weight in the global economy is growing and their economic achievements are driving them to play a more active role in the United Nations, the International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and the World Trade Organization. They want these international bodies to reform and their own participation in them to increase. The five insist that decisions about the world economy should be decentralized, not dictated unilaterally by the United States.
