The book is devoted to the 170-year old history of the well-known Belarusian historical monument of fortification of the first half of the XIXth century - the Brest Fortress. The work parses the history of the fortress from the moment of its rise to our time and elucidates interesting historical facts concerning the design and construction of the building, which was the advanced post of the Russian Empire during the period from 1842 to 1914. The book also narrates about heroism of the Soviet defenders who fought against the German forces up to the last ditch in the years of the Second World War as well as about the foundation of the museum and memorial complex on the territory of the fortress.
