The work is devoted to the analysis of the current state of multilateral interactions in the Arctic region in the context of growing interest and inclusion of “external” actors — states of the Asia-Pacific region — in the projects of the development of the Arctic. It discusses the formation of Arctic strategies in Japan, the PRC and the Republic of Korea, examines the most important causes and factors that determine the cooperative and conflict dynamics of the relationship of various players in the Arctic. The results presented in the work are intended to help identify objective and subjective obstacles to international cooperation between the Russian Federation and Asian states in the Arctic, as well as the possibilities and ways to remove these obstacles with a view to effectively realizing Russia’s national interests in this region of the world.
