The present book is based on front letters and diary notes written by the post-graduate student and specialist in India Mikhail Kudriavtsev (1911-1992), who later became the outstanding Petersburg scientist. This is one of the few genuine historical evidences reflecting the real atmosphere of the wartime. The book tells about people from Leningrad intelligentsia, their life during the Great Patriotic War.
