The author describes the fates of brave bomber pilots from World War II – Kazimierz “Dziunk” Bilecki and John Edge Kerslake. After graduating from the School of Eaglets in Deblin, Dziunek took part in heavy combat in the September Campaign of 1939, during which he was wounded. After convalescence, he made it to England in dramatic circumstances, where he participated in combat and training of new pilots. There he found the love of his life and many friends and a second homeland. John Kerslake, Dziunk’s friend, became his brother-in-law. The author shows how often at that time people received selfless help from complete strangers. The book was also written for the younger generation and people from England, to bring them closer to the history of Poland. It contains information about the changing borders of the Republic of Poland, the life of the people under partition, the rebirth of the state in 1918 and the difficult situation of the Polish nation during World War II.
