O. Sokolovsky's historical novel "Bogun" was first published in 1931 in sub-Soviet Ukraine by the LIM publishing house. It is known that at the request of the publisher the author had to revise his work several times. This is undoubted proof that the ideological concept of the novel did not fit within the framework of the world outlined by the occupier. But even such concessions did not save the author - in 1937, Sokolovsky was charged with allegedly joining the anti-Soviet Socialist Revolutionary Organization in 1932, and in 1936 he was recruited into an anti-Soviet Ukrainian nationalist organization and headed a terrorist group to oppress Ravitsin. authorities in Ukraine. Sokolovsky was sentenced to death by a visiting session of the Supreme Soviet of the Supreme Court of the USSR on August 22, 1938, and on the same day he was shot. The writer focuses on the illustrious Colonel Ivan Bohun, his actions, military operations and personal life.
