This book is a kind of autobiographical novel written by Vizma Belshevitsa, an honoured worker of Lettish culture, poetess and translator. The author narrates about the childhood and adolescence of a rarely sensitive and observant girl who overcame all the horrors of World War II and post-war years. With sympathy and tenderness the poetess draws a portrait of this girl who could not understand a strange world of adults and felt pain and confusion facing it.
