The book investigates the history of the Lithuanian and Belarusian Poles who confronted the problem of choice during the last decades of the Russian Empire existence. There were people who chose Russia and those who chose Poland but there were also people who wanted an alternative: creation of the Belarusian-Lithuanian state. The decision made by the Poles influenced the history of Belarus and Lithuania in the XXth century.
